Apple launched in April 2021 a new Apple TV 4K version. With a faster processor and a few more significant internal changes, with all-new Siri Remote.
Designed smartly, Apple TV 4K second generation continues to look like the version of the previous generation. With a basic black box layout that plugs into a TV via HDMI.
The Apple TV 4K provides 4K resolution and supports HDR, including HDR10 and Dolby Vision, at a high frame rate. It must also be combined with a 4K TV and 4K content for complete output.
Apple says that it is focusing on high HDR frame rates for FOX Sports, NBCUniversal, Paramount+, Red Bull TV, Canal+ and other applications. AirPlay now supports high frame rates to enable the latest Apple TV 4K to view full resolution Dolby Vision video on iPhone 12.
The new Apple TV 4K features a faster A12 Bionic Chip which boosts GPU, speeds video decoding, improves audio processing and improves gameplay.
While the Apple TV 4K is design, Apple reworked the Siri Remote, which features a new one-piece aluminum cartridge design. There is a five-way navigation clickpad control wheel which also supports touch gestures. The outer ring of the clickpad supports a circular action, allowing you to jump between television and movie play back.
The Siri Remote has a power button that controls power of a TV that is larger than the previous version. There are also volume keys, a mute button, a pause and fast forwarding options and a menu button. Siri can listen to you by pressing the side button.
Apple also added a new color balancing process using a front-facing camera for the iPhone to fine-tune the Apple TV colors by comparing the color to the industry-standard requirements. This works for both old and the new Apple TV 4K.
This Apple TV 4K is available for purchase on Sunday, April 30, starting at $179. The Siri Remote is separately available at $59.
Apple has stopped its previous 4K Apple TV, launched in 2017, but the Apple TV HD is still available.
